Article summary

Errands can be used to schedule tasks, so they show up on the schedule but are not billed to the customer.

(Errands are not billable- if you need something billable it needs to be a Work Order/Field Ticket)

Adding a New Errand can be found on the home screen and the schedulers.

Use the Drag and Drop feature for Errands on the scheduler screens.

An example of an errand not associated with a job may be taking a vehicle for an oil change or a company meeting.

Existing errands can be found under Data-> Errands-> Manage Errands

Errands linked to a Job or Work Order will flow through to the job costing report.

An example of an errand that may be linked to a job is, a runner delivering equipment to a job site.

Link an Errand to a Job or Work Order by clicking the ellipsis next to Job Name and select an option.

Timecard reports show Errands as a time category.

FAQ's for Errands

Are Errands billable?

As far as billing, it’s not possible to bill out an errand.

The whole point of an errand is it’s non-billable things you need to do.

If you need something billable, it needs to be a Work Order/Field Ticket.

Can you convert an Errand to a Work Order?

Unfortunately, no, you cannot convert an Errand to a WO. However, what you could try either of these options.

  1. Add the price to an existing FT you need to price anyway
  2. On an existing FT for the job you can do Misc -> New Quick FT and that will bring up an FT designed specifically to price something. There is no time on this field ticket, but you can add line items for pricing and mark it ready to invoice.
